For owners of small businesses, a buy-sell agreement can be one of the most critical components of business planning. A buy-sell agreement should define each of the owners equity interest in the business. However, business owners are often focused on making their business succeed, maximizing revenues, and minimizing expenses, so they do not implement a buy-sell agreements. While this is understandable, business owners should be cognizant of the three D’s – death, disability and divorce – all of which should be addressed in a well structured agreement.

David Ravi Sitlani is an attorney with offices at thinkspace and downtown Seattle. He works with clients in the areas of business planning, estate planning and other related areas of law.
